PHOTO DIARY #4

The Forth Road Bridge // Opening my dissertation to find a half empty sentence // Cocktails with the girls // my apple cocktail // surprise pancakes! // Rainbow building // Valentine's Day! // Seb is so romantic // One year ago I met my babes.

Absolutely gutted that my Feb break is over with so quickly. I could actually cry at the thought of going back to school tomorrow but I guess I have too :( Only 5 more weeks go to!! God that sounds sooo long! wah!

My week off has been good. I actually had a social life and saw my friends a couple of times. Cocktails were super good! Especially my apple cocktail (i think it was apple vodka and wine?).
Seb and I didn't do much for Valentine's Day. We are kind of over that now. However we did go to Nandos and it was full of smoochy couples and lonely singleton girls hating on men!

I have so much tv to catch up on so I guess I can do that whilst doing placement work. *sob*

Hope everyone is well :)

Some Like It Hot: A Review

I had a thought just after Christmas after reading some stories about Marilyn Monroe. I have never actually watched any of her films, so I had to remedy this. I bought Some Like It Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and The Seven Year Itch.

I started with Some Like It Hot (1959).
This is the summary from IMDB,

'When two musicians witness a mob hit, they flee the state in an all female band disguised as women, but further complications set in'

I was a bit worried at first because it was black and white as I usually spend the whole film wondering what colour things were (i am so annoying!). Apparently it was in Marilyn Monroe's contract that all her films were to be filmed in colour BUT the make up they used on Tony and Jack's faces turned a shade of green so they had to film it in B&W.

However, I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie was!
The plot was great and I found myself laughing A LOT! It was good old school humour! I genuinely had no idea what was going to happen at the end so that's always a good thing!

I found the 'main star', Marilyn Monroe, to be average. Yes, she was drop dead gorgeous and had you hanging on every word she said but she wasn't the star of this film for me. After every film I always go onto imdb and read all the trivia and apparently Marilyn was hard work on this film.
Marilyn Monroe as Sugar

The star of the film for me was 'Daphne' or Jack Lemmon. He was hilarious and had the best storyline and lines to say!

Tony Curtis with Jack Lemmon as Daphne

Doesn't he look like a beautiful woman? He played the role brilliantly! I can't wait to view more movies that he is in. I've actually never heard of him before. I've read up on him and nobody has a bad word to say about him. Just shows you that the media only focus on the bad womaniser type men.

Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis as Daphne and Josephine

Tony Curtis was great as well. I thought he suited being a women far too well. I didn't like his storyline as much as I did Jacks, perhaps because Jacks was super funny.

I would highly recommend this film to everyone. It had a great plotline, great actors, funny lines and great clothing (even if it was in black and white).

10/10

Have you seen it? What do you think?

PHOTO DIARY #3

Having a balanced diet // A night in with Wallace and Gromit // A lovely dinner at Teviot // 4 weeks down, 6 weeks to go! // Eddie running riot // Toby Carvery yum yum // Edinburgh buses have names // my baby // I am reached my sadness limit //

Hi everyone,

I am officially on my February break (half term) holiday!! I am extremely looking forward to my week off - although I do have a lot of catching up to do on placement work AND I do need to finish my literature review. No rest for the wicked.

It will be nice just to chill out though. I can't wait to go shopping, see my friends, SLEEP, eat, catch up with things etc etc.

I really am enjoying placement now. At first, I wasn't sure of my teacher but I really like her now. She is hilarious! I think she likes me too (always a good thing). I also passed my first tutor visit! HURRAH!! Bad news is, she comes back again in 2 weeks...but hey ho! After she is gone, I'll only have 3 weeks left!! Super scary!!

I have plenty of things to look forward to in March!! We're nearly halfway through February- HURRY UP!!

I feel that I'm getting my life back now that I've got into the swing of teaching! Woohoo!

Hope you're all well,
